An Austro-Hungarian lancer's czapska
dated 1906

Black leather skull with red wool and black leather-covered upper with yellow and black lace and cords. Black horsehair plume with brass button bearing Franz Josef's cipher. Brass frontplate in the form of the Hapsburg eagle. Leather-backed brass chinscales, the right side with white metal cockade, the left with brass cockade showing traces of red paint. Brass rimmed fore-peak. Black leather eleven finger sweatband. Interior with label marked ...Georg Kugi....1906. Retaining old auction tag for Arthur Ross, Inc. of New York City.
Condition: Very good. Leather with light scuffing.
