A Bavarian zimmerschutzen by Fenker
late 19th century

Not serialized, 1.5mm. 27 1/2 inch octagonal barrel inlaid in silver Fenker In Weilheim. Adjustable peep sight. Double triggers. Half-stock of figured walnut with finely checkered fleur-de-lys panels at the wrist. Perchbelly buttstock having large cheekpiece with intaglio-carved scrollwork panel behind and semi-schutzen buttplate. Right side of buttstock with small patchbox. Scrolling wooden triggerguard. Sling swivels.
Condition: Fair to good. Metal with dark patina showing some light pitting. Forward 6 inches of fore-end a well-made period restoration. Triggerguard showing repaired crack and missing two small chips. Patchbox lid jammed.
