A French flintlock screwbarrel pistol
fourth quarter 18th century

With 1 7/8 inch steel cannon barrel in .42 caliber. Faceted breech, the top flat showing faint markings. Underside of breech marked Juge. Unmarked lock with waterproof pan and French cock. Steel furniture. Walnut half-stock with checkered wrist and inlaid with silver wire scrollwork framing the barrel tang and with silver wire lines framing the lock, counterscrew flat and buttcap.
Condition: Very good. Grey metal showing scattered light pitting. Lock mainspring fatigued. Stock showing scattered minor marks, some wear to checkering and minor losses to silver wire inlay.
