A cased pair of English percussion belt pistols by Frederick Barnes & Company
mid-19th century

Each with 4 1/2 inch .54 caliber Damascus barrel marked F. Barnes & Co. London. Brass under-ribs fitted with swivel ramrods. Birmingham proofs. Scroll-engraved brass boxlock actions equipped with 3 inch steel belthooks. Finely checkered walnut grips with polished butts and vacant German silver escutcheons in polished reserves. Complete with green baize-lined case, the partitioned interior with one lidded compartment. Accessories include brass and copper flask, brass-tipped cleaned/loading rod and iron bullet mold.
Condition: Very good. Barrels showing light Damascus pattern. One cock replaced. Brass with dark patina. Excellent wood. Case exterior with minor marks. Interior with small damaged area to skirt, the lining showing wear and staining, tear from hammer of one gun and some loose partitions.
