A cased pair of French percussion pistols by Houllier-Blanchard & Charles Robert
circa 1850

Each with 9 3/4 inch blued octagonal barrel, the fluted chamfers in-the-white. Twelve groove rifling in .50 caliber. Top flats signed Fni. D. Houllier Blanchard et Chles. Robert a Paris. Tangs and breeches numbered in gold 1 and 2 respectively. Tangs, locks, spur triggerguards and buttcaps engraved with floral scrolls. Burl walnut half-stocks with fluted grips, the fore-ends and grip side panels intaglio-carved with leafy scrolls. Complete with original ebonized case, the brass-bound lid with engraved scroll-engraved escutcheon and corners. Rose velour-lined interior, the lid gilt-stamped Houllier Blanchard/Brevete/A Paris. Accessories include a fine copper and brass powder flask (Riling #466), mold, powder measure and ebonized cleaning and loading rods, cap barrel, nipple wrench/screwdriver and mallet.
Condition: Fine. Barrels retain 75-85% percent blue finish. One cock replaced. Excellent wood with minor marks. Case lid with light marks and one hairline crack. Lining showing some wear and staining. Accessories excellent. Compartment lid knobs broken.
