A pair of Italian flintlock pistols
late 18th century

Each with 5 1/2 inch two-stage .55 caliber barrel, the fluted breeches signed A. Torchione. Lockplates signed G. Banchi. Plain iron furniture. Full burlwood stocks, the wrists inlaid with silver wire scrollwork and set with oval silver escutcheons engraved with landscapes. Horn-tipped ramrods.
Condition: Good to very good. Metal showing dark patina and scattered minor pitting. One cock does not hold when drawn back. Both showing losses to wire inlay. One gun cracked at fore-end and showing period brass plate repair and with chip at buttcap. The other cracked between tail of lock and barrel tang with some chipping in the same area. Otherwise stocks showing few minor marks.
