An English percussion belt pistol
Birmingham, second quarter 19th century

The 5 3/4 inch octagonal barrel in .50 caliber smoothbore, top flat marked London. Birmingham proofs. Engraved breech inlaid with German silver bands. Sighted tang. Back action lock engraved with broad floral scrolls. Belt hook. Engraved German silver triggerguard. Walnut half-stock with checkered bag-shaped butt.
Condition: Very good. Barrel with brown patina showing minor pitting. Rear half of barrel tang missing, the inlet area filled. Sound wood with scattered marks.
