An Ottoman flintlock holster pistol
early 19th century

The 10 1/2 inch .68 caliber three-stage barrel engraved at the breech with foliage and crescent moons and with apochryphal signature. Rounded lock engraved with foliage. Engraved brass furniture, the buttcap chased with foliage. Full stock with relief-carved and incised decoration, the wrist with brass wire inlay. Bone fore-end cap.
Condition: Very good. Grey metal showing some light pitting. Top jaw and cock screw replaced. Sound wood with minor marks. Some very minor losses to wire inlay.
