A French flintlock tromblon pistol
early 19th century

The 5 7/8 inch two-stage Damascus barrel with oval, belled muzzle with molded rim, molded girdle and faceted and chamfered breech. Lock with roller-mounted pan spring, the interior of the lockplate marked TH. Unengraved steel furniture, the triggerguard with pineapple finial. Flat buttcap in the Empire style. Steel ramrod turned below the flattened tip. Walnut half-stock with silver wire inlaid above the buttcap and around the lock, the spine inlaid with silver wire scrollwork.
Condition: Very good. Barrel with smooth, dark patina, the front section showing much Damascus pattern. Stock with scattered small marks and minor hairline cracks.
