A Saxon flintlock pistol by Thomas Wilhelm Pistor
mid-18th century

The 7 1/2 inch three-stage barrel with molded girdles and rifled in .60 caliber. German silver fore-sight on a raised base. Rear sight. Lockplate signed T.W. Pistor. Brass furniture molded and engraved with scrollwork and dentate borders. Full walnut stock with horn fore-end cap and relief-carved with panels and scrolls.
Condition: Very good. Barrel and lock with dark, mottled patina showing some light pitting. Sound wood showing sharp carving and numerous light marks. Fore-end cap with center split.
