An incised Scottish powder horn
18th century

Of translucent greenish brown cow horn, the 12 inch horn of flattened form with slightly beveled edges, the inner rim carved with a suspension hole below the spout. Flat plug secured with wooden pins and relief-carved with suspension hole bracket. Outer side incised with three large panels composed of concentric circles and half-circles around six petaled blossoms. Reverse with four simpler panels of similar design.
Condition: Showing scattered marks and wear and with some chipping and cracks above the plug.
