Edinburgh, third quarter 18th century
The 7 3/4 inch .56 caliber three-stage barrel with flared muzzle and is engraved with florals at the lower end of each stage and a blossom below the muzzle. Lock with half-cock safety and signed Will/Allan. Stock engraved with panels of scrollwork, left side with engraved steel belthook. Ram's horn butt. Ball trigger and touch hole pick both pierced with fourteen circular holes in two rows. Steel ramrod with double swellings below the tip.
Condition: Very good. Grey metal showing some light pitting and generally sharp engraving. Ramrod of the period but probably a replacement.
