A Spanish percussion belt pistol
third quarter 19th century

The 4 inch .74 caliber two-stage barrel with cannon muzzle and molded girdle, the faceted breech section engraved with floral scrolls. Patilla lock with engraved bridle and dolphin-form cock, the lockplate inscribed 18--. Steel triggerguard and counterplate engraved with floral scrolls, the latter with 5 inch steel belthook. Walnut stock with checkered grip. Silver fore-end band; spade-shaped silver wrist escutcheon engraved RJ; butt with flat, engraved silver cap.
Condition: Very good. Mottled grey metal showing areas of light pitting with generally sharp engraving. Fine stock showing minor marks. No ramrod.
