A composite Ripoll miquelet belt pistol
mid-17th century and later

The 10 3/4 inch two-stage barrel in .62 caliber smoothbore; round front section with sighting rib and floral engraving; fluted breech section marked Prat. Lock with fluted pan and bridle, the pan cover with maker's mark Valls. Simple iron triggerguard. Spurred brass buttcap with grotesque mask. Full walnut stock with fluted and relief-carved decoration.
Condition: Fair. Grey metal showing areas of light pitting. Cock an old replacement. Wrist escutcheon missing. Stock showing scattered marks. Fore-end cap missing. Buttcap spurs secured by brass tacks.
