A Winchester early 2nd Model 1876 lever action rifle

Serial no. 7308 for 1878, .45-75 caliber. 28 inch octagonal barrel with Marble fore-sight, the adjustable rear sight marked 1876. Rare casehardened action with blued loading gate and thumbprint dust cover. Casehardened hammer and lever. Varnished walnut stock and fore-end. Crescent butt.
Condition: Fine. Barrel retains 97-98% blued finish, the edges turning to brown. Tube retains 95-97% finish with much of it turning to brown. Action retains much faded casehardening with areas of vivid color remaining on the sideplates. Hammer and lever retain generous traces of darkened casehardening. Dustcover retains most blued finish with areas of spotting overall. Clean bore showing small patches of minor pitting. Sound, clean wood showing scattered light scratches and some staining.
