A Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle
attributed to the Utah Office of Indian Affairs

Serial no. 252773B for 1887, .38 W.C.F. 24 inch octagonal barrel with standard sights and full magazine. Left sideplate with after market stamping Office of/Indian Affairs. Walnut stock and fore-end. Right side of buttstock with white metal plaque stamped O I A above an eagle with Utah below and somewhat crudely affixed with brass-headed tacks.
Condition: Fair. Metal showing dark patina with areas of light to heavy pitting. Dustcover missing. Wood showing heavy wear with several deep bruises to buttstock. Fore-end with neatly repaired sliver at left front and glued split on the underside at frame juncture.
