An unmarked American Kentucky percussion target pistol
mid-19th century

Heavy 14 1/2 inch octagonal barrel with six groove rifling in .44 caliber. Muzzle face decorated with punched 'stars' and concentric rings. German silver fore-sight. Sighted tang. Back action lock engraved with scrollwork and the figure of a bird. Brass triggerguard. Walnut half-stock with pewter fore-end cap.
Condition: Fine. Barrel with smooth dark brown patina. Lock showing pinpoint spotting. Stock with few minor storage marks and small hairline crack to wrist.
