An American Kentucky percussion pistol
mid-19th century

Unmarked 18 inch octagonal barrel in .44 caliber smoothbore. Brass fore-sight. Under-rib fitted with two brass ramrod thimbles. Sighted tang extending to butt of grip. Engraved lock by James Goulcher. Simple iron triggerguard. Half-stock with striped finish, pewter fore-end cap and oval brass plate set in the fore-end.
Condition: Very good. Grey metal showing scattered minor pitting. Barrel rib and thimbles showing old re-attachment. Stock with scattered light marks and hairline crack to right side of grip.
