Footnotes

Note: Documentation explaining the exact meaning of the C.A markings found on a number of Remington conversion revolvers has not been discovered. It has been suggested by a number of experts, including Roger Phillips, author of Largebore Remington Conversion Revolvers and Donald L. Ware, Remington Army and Navy Revolvers, 1861-1888, that it is a state arsenal inventory mark, probably that of the Connecticut Arsenal. As the highest noted number is C.A. 395, it is assumed that there were some 400 revolvers in the order.
