An unmarked percussion pistol
probably American, circa 1840-50

The 8 inch octagonal Damascus barrel in .65 caliber smoothbore. Swivel ramrod. Engraved breech with single German silver band. Scroll-engraved back action lock. Engraved steel triggerguard with pineapple finial. Full walnut stock with checkered bag-shaped grip. Oval German silver barrel wedge escutcheons.
Condition: Very good. Barrel showing much thinning Damascus pattern. Lock and triggerguard with dark grey patina. Stock with scattered light marks and cracks between counterscrew and triggerguard and lock and triggerguard.
