A Colt First Model Dragoon percussion revolver

Serial no. 5556 for 1849, .44 caliber. 7 1/2 inch barrel with standard markings. Cylinder scene with U.S. Dragoons marking. Single cylinder pin aligned with serial number. Walnut grips. Subsidiary letter marks include G on cylinder, hammer and front of triggerguard; C on left side of frame; T on rear of cylinder and K on gripstrap apron and left side of lever lug, the latter in a square.
Condition: Very good. Barrel retains 25% blued finish, mainly on lug and breech end of barrel. Loading lever lug retains generous traces of faded casehardening. Cylinder with grey metal showing generally strong scene and markings with some light pitting. Mismatched barrel wedge numbered 269. Frame markings partially worn. Grips showing some light marks with wear and worn chipping at butt.
