A U.S. Marine Corps NCO sword presented by noted ace Colonel Gregory "Pappy" Boyington

Of standard pattern, the blade by Vanguard and etched with scrollwork and United States Marine Corps. Leather-covered scabbard with brass mounts, the throat engraved Ray/from/"Pappy". Together with provenance stating that the sword was presented by Col. Boyington to Ray Carnay, cousin of the present owner, who became a longtime friend after first meeting the famed ace during a radio interview in 1959. Also included is an envelope with Boyington's letterhead addressed to Mr. Carnay, a letter from Carnay to the consignor talking about the sword and a photocopied newspaper article showing Mr. Carnay with Col. Boyington.
