An early Highland dirk
circa 1700

Straight, acutely tapered 14 3/4 inch single edged blade with two deep fullers below the spine. Hardwood grip carved with Celtic interlace. Flat brass pommel cap with simple decoration in the form of two concentric circles. Exposed tang secured by a cross-shaped iron nut.
Condition: Blade with dark, mottled patina showing some light pitting and minor frittering to edge. Grip bolster missing. Grip showing wear and age patina.
