A Revolutionary War era cutlass
probably American, circa 1750-80

Broad, slightly curved 24 inch single edged blade with deep 17 inch fuller below the spine. Iron hilt of somewhat crude construction and comprising slightly downcurving quillon with button finial; outboard shell incised with narrow bands; knucklebow swelling at the center and extending to integral flat pommel cap. One-piece bone grip.
Condition: Mottled grey metal showing scattered light pitting.
