A German processional sword
early 17th century

The 53 inch flamberge blade with strong median ridge and struck with a cruciform maker's mark above the leather-covered ricasso. Ricasso with downcurving lugs of flattened diamond section. Iron crossguard with side rings enclosing scrolling fleur-de-lys, the quillons with tri-form scrolling tips, the centermost with flaring tips. Fig-shaped iron pommel with button. Leather-covered grip with central molding.
Condition: Showing dark patina with areas of pitting, hilt retains much of old black-painted finish. Leather scuffed and with losses.
