A silver-mounted Turkish shamshir

Slightly curved 32 1/2 inch blade with two broad fullers at the base, the uppermost splitting to two narrow fullers 11 inches above the hilt. Niello silver guard with large trefoil-shaped finial and having chased and punched decoration, the outer side with gilt highlights. Grip with beaded silver spine, silver wire wrap and marine ivory gripscales, one side retaining gilt oval escutcheon. Niello silver pommel chased with gold-washed florals. Niello silver scabbard mounts, the front chased with leaf-forms and blossoms and with star and crescent, the latter motifs with gilt highlights. Reverse of mounts with niello scrollwork, the throat with inscribed panel incorporating what appears to be the date 1343 (1924).
Condition: Blade showing some spotting/light pitting. One gripscale missing the escutcheon. Scabbard showing scattered small dents. Suspension mounts missing rings. Possibly a composite piece.
