An ivory-hilted Philippine punal
late 19th/early 20th century

The 9 3/4 inch double edged blade of diamond section. Silver-plated guard. Elaborated gilt copper ferrule with large central knopf. Elephant ivory pistolgrip. Gilt and silvered copper scabbard chased with scrollwork.
Condition: Blade showing minor pitting. Ferrule retains much gilt finish. Grip with age cracks and been reattached showing remains of glue and is not quite properly fitted. Scabbard with minor marks and some wear to finish.
