A silver and gold-mounted Nepalese kothimora kukri
late 19th/early 20th century

The 12 inch blade of typical form. Brass ferrule. Green horn grip. Silver throat with spirally fluted rim beaded borders and floral chasing, the lower section deeply chased with a dragon's head flanked by small turquoise stones, the upper section with inlaid gold panel of a bird. Accessory knife scabbards retained by a braided multi-strand silver band joined in the front by a gold-faced roundel chased with a dragon's head. Long silver chape chased with scrollwork and herringbone borders. Reverse of scabbard fitted with three scabbards, two containing associated side knives, one hilted in green horn, the other in wood, the third scabbard now containing a small leather pouch.
Condition: Blade showing some light scratches. Scabbard mounts with some light marks, throat missing one turquoise.
