A lot of five Moro spears, budiak
southern Philippines, late 19th/early 20th century

Comprising: 1) 15 inch head with median ridge and tapered tang; original 70 inch haft with plaited rattan ferrule; upper half set with thirteen narrow rattan bands covered in pitch; lower edge tapered for foot, now missing. 2) 14 inch blade of similar form; original 81 inch rosewood haft with iron ferrule above four plaited rattan bands. 3) 12 1/2 inch blade of similar form above an iron ferrule and three plaited rattan bands; original 88 inch rosewood haft. 4) 15 3/4 inch blade of similar form above two tubular iron ferrules; original 81 inch hardwood haft. 5) 6 inch leaf-shaped blade with molded neck; twine ferrule; 75 inch haft probably original, flaring at the base and set with thin leather pad.
Condition: Metal showing dark patina with scattered light pitting. Hafts with scattered marks but very sound.
