A Moro keris with silver-plated mounts
southern Philippines, probably early 20th century

Having a 23 inch twelve curve blade with integral guard and single steel stirrup. Hilt with engraved copper ferrules, the lowermost fitting in an engraved steel cup, the grip proper formed of silver-plated copper bands alternating with bands of plaited and twisted silver wire. Silver-plated copper cockatoo pommel. Original wooden scabbard bound with copper and white metal bands.
