An Indo-Persian arm guard, bazu band
probably 18th century

The watered steel arm guard with hinged wrist plate, both having applied rim and decorative border of gold koftgari meander. Both components fitted with two cut steel buckles. Wrist plate with worn red velour lining piped in yellow.
Condition: Metal showing wear, areas of light pitting, some areas of delamination and patches of dark spotting. Gilt decoration showing considerable losses.
