A German burgonet
Nuremburg, first half 17th century

One-piece skull with high, roped comb flanked by sunken bands, the centers with median ridges. Pointed peak, the roped and guttered rim with Nuremburg city mark. Neck defense of three lames with central sunken panel, the lowermost with roped and guttered rim. Hinged cheekpieces, each with raised band at the front edge, raised circular panel pierced with five circular holes and with roped and guttered lower rim.
Condition: Grey metal showing scattered marks and light pitting. Two rivets securing right cheekpiece replaced.
