Philadelphia: Lippincott, Grambo & Company, 1851-57. 6 volumes in 12. Illustrated with 331 (of 332) plates and maps, many of which in color, additional engraved titles, and wood engravings throughout the text. 4to (316 x 243 mm). Later ¾ brown levant over burgundy cloth boards, spine in six compartments, two of which are gilt lettered, the others with gilt decoration, t.e.g., by Riviere & Son. Wanting two plates, though with an additional plate not called for, some faint foxing, mainly to preliminary and final leaves, brief dampstains to one volume, covers with some wear to cloth, light shelfwear, several joints starting, stray marks, but generally attractive.
