2 items:
1. [Thanksgiving for the King's Restoration.] London: Edward Husbands & Thomas Newcomb, May 9, 1660. Woodcut arms of Charles II, woodcut initial. Broadside (351 x 207 mm). Evenly toned, else excellent.
2. An Act for Renouncing and Disanulling the pretended Title of Charles Stuart, &c. London: Henry Hills and John Field, 1656. Woodcut seal of the Commonwealth, woodcut initial. Broadside in 2 sheets. Both (378 x 290 mm). Horizontal fold, two pinholes on each, but generally clean.
Charles II was proclaimed rightful monarch on the 8th of May and Parliament had a busy session the following day including restoring the King's arms, making arrangements for his return, and declaring a Thanksgiving day of prayer for Charles II and James, Duke of York, "and the rest of the Royal progeny." The second item, printed around the time that Charles II signed a new treaty with Spain, reaffirms that the Stuart progeny have no right to the crown of England.
