Vanity Fair. Vols II-VII (January 5, 1861 to July 4, 1863). Bound in 5 volumes, 4 in half calf over marbled boards, 5th in leatherette. Wear to spines with some loss to all volumes.
Oliver Barrett’s copies, with “Barrett” and “ORB” to front free endpapers; with additional manuscript notes by Carl Sandburg laid in throughout text. Sandburg has marked passages of interest and illustrations to be reproduced in his own work; present also are offprints of the reproduced illustrations from the biography.
