SACKVILLE-WEST, VITA. 1892-1962.

Typed Letter Signed (“Vita Nicolson”), 1 p, 8vo, Kent, May 4, 1956, extending an invitation to “Sir Hugh,” on Sissinghurst Castle letterhead, with autograph postscript to lower margin, page mildly toned and with light foxing to upper margin. Together with Signature (“L.S. Sackville West / Her Majesty’s Minister”) of Lionel Sackville-West, grandfather of Vita, 1 p, 5 by 7 inches, Washington, November 29, 1887, leaf moderately toned.

Vita Sackville-West is best remembered as a popular novelist and the model for Orlando in Virginia Woolf’s novel of the same name.
