2 Autograph Letters Signed (“J.S. Mill”), 4 pp recto and verso, 8vo, n.p.,n.d. [but 1836-1840], and March 20 1866, to Sir J.P. Kay and Leigh Hunt, dated letter on stationery blindstamped “Blackheath Park,” leaves creased horizontally, moderately thumbed and soiled.

In the earlier undated letter, Mill writes to poet Leigh Hunt asking if he will contribute a piece to the forthcoming issue of the London & Westminster Review, which Mill edited from 1836-1840. In the later letter, Mill declines an invitation to be proposed for membership to the Athenaeum Club in Pall Mall.
