RAY, MAN. 1890-1976.

La Photographie n'est pas l'Art. [Paris]: GLM, 1937. Foreword by André Breton. 5 text leaves plus 12 plates after photographs by Man Ray. 8vo (250 x 160 mm). Loose as issued in original printed blue wrappers; black outer wrapper. Mild sun, a touch of wear to backstrip, and faint circular stain on cover to blue wrapper; black outer wrapper apparently supplied.

First edition. "La Photographie n'est pas l'Art is one of the most enigmatic yet advanced of all [Man Ray's] books. It can be taken as a summation of his experiments in photography, and might be said to be his photographic swansong" (Parr/Badger I, p 108).
