Papermaking by Hand in America. Chillicothe, OH: Mountain House Press, 1950. Hand-colored frontispiece; plus facsimiles, reproductions of early American watermarks; and 42 tipped-in plates illustrating ream wrappers. Printed on handmade paper using type cut by Dard Hunter Jr. Folio. Contemporary full pigskin stamped in blind, spine gilt-lettered, by Bayntun (Riviere); later custom morocco-backed linen clamshell box. Fine.

Limited edition, no 171 of 210 copies, signed by the author. Hunter’s history is organized chronologically by colony or state according to when the first paper mills were founded. Specially bound copy, in fine condition.
