DISNEY, WALTER ELIAS. 1901-1966.

Original pencil sketch, 7 ¾ by 5 ¾ inches, of Mickey Mouse’s profile, signed (“Walt Disney”) at lower margin, also signed by Lillian Disney (“Mrs. Walt Disney”) at center right margin, inscribed in pencil on the verso, “To the sweetest passenger on the SS Lurline / J.F. Meier” and with notation indicating sketch and signature were collected in August of 1934; leaf mildly creased and toned, tipped at upper margin to mount, matted and framed to 11 ½ by 10 inches.

Walt and Lillian Disney sailed on board the SS Lurline, leaving port August 10, 1934, and arriving in Honolulu for their first visit to the islands on August 16. An enterprising passenger collected this sketch and pair of signatures from the couple sometime during the voyage, and then apparently turned it over to another passenger.
