The Fables. 2 volumes. [With]: GAY, JOHN. Fables. 2 volumes. London: John Stockdale, 1793. Together, 4 volumes. Illustrated with 180 engraved plates; plus engraved title-pages. Tall 8vos (256 x 150 mm). Gay's Fables slightly taller. Uniform full polished tan calf, red and green morocco spine labels, spines gilt, all edges gilt, by Kaufmann. Scattered very few foxmarks, including to engraved titles, pale offsetting from plates to text, touch of sun to spines, else fine.

First Stockdale editions, handsome set. Wonderful illustrations, including 11 early engravings by William Blake in Gay's Fables.
