Collection of correspondence to Nobel Laureate George R. Minot, including.
DE KRUIF, PAUL. 2 Typed Letters Signed (“Paul de Kruif”), 2 pp, 8vo, Brussels and Bronxville, NY, January 5, 1930 and September 9, n.y., to Minot, regarding his recent travels, leaves creased and toned. De Kruif was a microbiologist who assisted Sinclair Lewis in the writing of the novel, Arrowsmith.
BEST, CHARLES H. 2 Autograph Letters Signed (“C.H. Best”), 3 pp, 4to and 8vo, Pembroke, ME and Toronto, August 9, 1927 and November 1, 1932, to Minot, arranging meetings, leaves mildly age-toned. Best was one of the discoverers, along with Banting, of insulin.
ZINSSER, HANS. Typed Letter Signed (“Hans Zinsser”), 1 p, 4to, Boston, June 26, 1928, to Minot, regarding a student, on Harvard Medical School letterhead, light creasing, otherwise fine. Zinsser was a noted bacteriologist of his day, working on Typhus.
ELIOT, CHARLES W. Autograph Letter Signed (“Charles W. Eliot”), 2 pp, 8vo (conjoining leaves), n.p., June 30, 1883, to George Minot I (grandfather of Nobel Laureate), regarding land usage. Eliot was President of Harvard.
Together with 1841 printed pamphlet announcing the founding and constitution of the Association of the Alumni of Harvard College, signed in typed by William Minot.
