Rariorum plantarum historia. Antwerp: Ex officina Plantiniana apud Ioannem Moretum, 1601. Engraved title-page, over 1000 botanical woodcut illustrations in the text. Folio (346 x 207 mm). Period calf; custom quarter calf and linen clamshell box. Infrequent pale dampstain and some toning, first gathering detached and laid in, pin-hole worming in lower margin of first half, wear to corners, joints and spine ends, spine label chipped.

First collected edition, includes the first publication of Fungorum historia, the first monograph on fungi. The present copy conforms with the Arents copy described in Hunt; i.e., without a portrait but with the "Privilegium" leaf. Hunt 180; Nissen BBI 372.
