Ornithological Biography, or An Account of the Habits of the Birds of the United States of America. Philadelphia: Judah Dobson, 1831. Volume one only. xxiv, 512; 16 pp. 8vo. Period full brown calf, rebacked preserving original spine, red gilt-lettered leather spine label. Foxing and browning mainly to preliminary and final leaves, covers and spine with some arrested rubbing and wear.

First American edition. Includes Audubon’s prospectus for The Birds of America which has an early subscriber list. Howes A-389; Sabin 2366.
Provenance: Daniel Webster’s copy with his bookplate to the front pastedown; ownership stamps of William and Flora Richardson Library to endpapers.
