LOTTER, M.A. & G.F.

A New and Correct Map of North America, with the West India Islands. Divided According to the last Treaty of Peace, Concluded at Paris, the 20th. of Jan. 1783 wherein are particularly Distinguished the Thirteen Provinces wich Compose the United States of North America.... [London]: Matthew Albert and George Frederic Lotter, 1784. 4-sheet copper-engraved map, hand-colored in outline, unjoined, 510 x 585 mm plate size per sheet for a total approximate size of 1020 x 1170 mm. Inset maps of Baffin and Hudson's Bay and the Kino map. Wide margins preserved, fine.

Fine copy of a rather rare wall map. This is the pirated edition of Thomas Pownall's map of 1783; it preserves the wonderful detail and pictorial representation of relief, forests, etc. The fine title vignette differs from Pownall's, as it depicts a wharf scene with merchants and stevedores.
See illustration.
