[16], 22, 27-1019 pp. With 3G3 blank and section title for the second part. Folio (314 x 180 mm). Period blind-ruled calf, rebacked; slipcase. Small adhesion and a little soiling to title-page, modest browning, scattered few little stains, plate at p.193 with a closed tear, covers rubbed with worn corners, rebacked with repaired hinges.

First edition in English. De la Vega’s work “is of great historic value, as it constitutes practically the only document we possess of the ancient civilization of Peru” (Catholic Encyclopedia). He was the son of Spanish conquistador Sebastián Garcilaso de la Vega and Princess Isabel Chimpu Ocllo, grand-daughter of the last Inca emperor. Sabin 98760; Wing G216.
