A two-page contract outlining Presley's standard agreement that "the Actor employ the Agent as his agent in the theatrical motion pictures...;" the second page having Elvis' signature penned in blue fountain pen ink (as well as his new agent's) below a date stamp reading "Jan. 31. 1956" -- quite historic as this is the first agent contract Elvis signed, enabling him to make movies [which he did soon afterwards with "Jail House Rock"]. There were likely multiple signed originals of this contract as many people would have needed their own copy (e.g., the agency, the agent, the manager - Colonel Tom Parker, the artist - Elvis Presley, etc.) so it's hard to know who owned this particular one. However, what is clear, is that this contract is one of the earliest professional documents that the twenty-one year old signed, starting him on the path of world fame and adulation that still has not waned, even in 2008; displayed in a presentation frame under a reprinted black and white photograph of Elvis signing what could be this very contract at the William Morris Agency.
