Made of metal and ornately decorated with colorful enamel, semi-precious stones, and turquoise; buckle attaches by metal 'hooks and eyes' though no belt is included. (Please note that some of the stones and turquoise are now missing.) Possibly used by the actor in his last film, "The Son of the Sheik" (1926), as the original 1926 auction catalogue notes [see Lot 3039], though it's too hard to know for certain when watching the film.

PROVENANCE:
This buckle originally sold in the A.H. Weil Los Angeles auction titled "The Estate of Rudolph Valentino," December 10, 1926, either lot 703 or 704 [both have almost identical descriptions in catalogue], page 78 of that catalogue. The current owner's grandmother attended that sale and bought this lot then.
