The first, undated but circa 1960, was sent to MM at the Mapes Hotel in Reno, Nevada by producer, Jerry Wald, who writes to her in part "Frankie Vaughan...is hurt regarding the Columbia record album on 'Let's Make Love'...He insists that proper credit be given him on front album cover...Please reconsider this matter and give us your permission to credit yourself, Yves Montand and Frankie Vaughan on the front cover of album. After all Marilyn he sings several of the numbers and deserves this consideration;" the second, dated "6/27/61," was sent to MM at the Beverly Hills Hotel by Ann Marlowe who asks the star if she'd like to be in a television version of "Rain;" MM's dictated response appears penciled [by a secretary] on the lower margin "I would only consider it if Lee Strasberg directed it."
