Joseph Symcock, Nantwich, (fl. c. 1809-34)
Having a 14-inch broken-arched Arabic dial with subsidiary seconds dial and terrestrial calendar crescent over inscribed maker's name "J. Symcock/Nantwich", within bat's wing spandrels, the arch with lunar calendar scale framing a rolling moon painted with a windmill, and a sailing ship flying the Red Ensign, over terrestrial hemispheres, the movement, with false-plate cast "WALKER & HUGHES", rack-striking on a bell, the case having a swan-neck pediment over ebony and boxwood-strung frieze, hood door and cluster columns, the conforming trunk with ogee-arched crossbanded long door on a canted base with bat's wing spandrels 215cm high (sold with pendulum)
